Freddy Sanchez wins Batting Title

Feddy Sanchez wins the Pirates' first batting title in 23 years after batting .344 for the season. This also was the Pirates' highest average since Roberto Clemente hit .345 in 1969. Sanchez only had 6 HRs compared to 53 doubles....that's pretty amazing. He only stuck out 52 times which is less than one K per 10 at bats. Also for the record his base salary this year: $342,000...that's a pretty good bargin.

Here is Freddy Sanchez's award winning numbers.

AB - 582
Hits - 200
2B - 53
3B - 2
HR - 6
BB - 31
RBI - 85
AVG - .344
OBP - .378
OPS - .851

They'll be more season ending stories about the Pirates during the coming days on the Rizzo Sports Blog.
